I always feel much worse when I see or hear the news these days.

@kdfrawg No. Currently the only way to choose is by buying from someone else. That still works.

Being able to choose would be nice.

@kdfrawg You’d think so. Maybe they don’t work for Amazon every day or something. One time we got a “tried to deliver” email when they hadn’t and they turned up at 8 or 9 in the evening of the same day. Anyway, Amazon treat the drivers badly and provide a rubbish service, so even if the on line part takes a bit more effort, I can generally get a better overall deal by buying from someone else.

When one of the newspapers writes an article about how badly the drivers are paid and all the rest of it, Amazon just say that it’s sub-contracted and nothing to do with them, which is pretty shoddy. A company that size can demand decent working conditions for sub-contractors if they want to.

//

@kdfrawg That was kind of them.

It looked that way, though I admit to being a bit grumpy because the weather was hot and sticky.

@kdfrawg Amazon gives them aload to deliver: a nominal day’s work,but it's more than they can actually deliver in a day. They're penalised if they don't finish, so they say they tried, then they actually deliver the next day.

//

@kdfrawg What happens here is that I order it, then I get an email saying it’s out for delivery, usually less than ten minutes before they arrive, and while I’m out walking Bembo. Sometimes they just skip the attempt to deliver and go straight to sending a message saying that they tried, even when I was at home the whole time and know they didn't. It was way better when they ised Royal Mail.

//

@kdfrawg Actually, I’ve stopped using them since they started doing their own deliveries. They’re useless too.
