@kdfrawg It certainly needs repairing.

@kdfrawg My parents have found that most illness is treated as acute, so they see someone twice & are then signed off & have to start with a new referral from the GP if they want to see them again. That might work for some illnesses or injuries, but it’s just daft for incurable progressive ones.

@kdfrawg I think he’d be allowed to talk to me himself, but I don’t think he has his phone with him, and even when he’s sitting quietly at home, it’s very hard to understand what he’s saying now.

@kdfrawg At the moment though, I don’t think there’s anything for them to say. They told my mother that they’ll provide any equipment that might help.

@kdfrawg I’ve no idea how that would work. I probably spoke to the ward clerk. Maybe if you get to someone with more authority, they can make a note that they’re allowed to talk to you. All medical establishments seem to think patients and their families have nothing more to do with their time than to travel to & from appointments or wait around till someone can be bothered to talk to them. I suspect it’s a plot to give us all hypertension.

@kdfrawg She’s going in every day. It’s about a 15 minute drive to the hospital, and she’s either driving herself, or going with family or friends. His former business partner is going most days too, so she & my mother go together often.

@kdfrawg Very frustrating. I finally got through. They said it would be better if I turned up in person because they’re not allowed to give out patients’ information over the phone. They did finally tell me that the consultant has asked for a physiotherapist and an occupational therapist to see him. The procedure seems to be that such requests are added to their list, and they just work down the list, so there’s no indication of when it might happen.
My mother and my brother & his wife are all going in today, so maybe they’ll get more info. My mother speaks the language and my sister in law isn’t a woman who gives up, so between them, they should find out any information that is actually lurking in the chaos that passes for a system.
