@kdfrawg What’s changed is that cleaning has been contracted out and the workers probably don’t get paid holidays now. And the factories that their husbands worked at have probably closed down, so they don’t all need the same fortnight off.

//

@kdfrawg Well, it is, as far as making detailed individual forecasts goes, but for the medical teams to have some idea of what they’re facing is sensible. And I must admit that, without having blind faith in them, I’d still rather have some idea of what to expect. It’s just that what I’ve already seen of how this thing progresses has probably already told me that.

@kdfrawg In those days, the girl students did cleaning & the boy students were porters. I think they had trolley races. The girls were more sedate.

@kdfrawg So only matching it against what you already know tells you if it fits or not, but that doesn’t help, because it’s what you already know.

@kdfrawg I had a summer job as a cleaner when I was a student (in the hospital where my father is). Those things were fun! A long, empty corridor… wheeee.

//

@kdfrawg It’s not as if seeing a chart that tells you what you already know makes anything clearer.

I think I’ll stop reading PSP mortality charts and go back to outer space.

@kdfrawg Waffles!

//

So frustrating to have to deal with that sort of thing on top of the health problems themselves.

@kdfrawg There was an article in the paper the other day (where, by “paper,” I mean web-site) about someone who had virtually no arms as a result of thalidomide, being asked to reapply for his disability allowances. You know, just in case his limbs might have grown back in the last six months.
