Done the walking in the rain bit. The freezer is now empty & defrosting. Waiting for the plumber to ring back.

Over here we still heat houses by pumping hot water round them. And ours is gas fuelled. Plumbers do gas and water, so it falls pretty solidly in their area, although I suspect the current problem is in the control system, not the plumbing.

Time to take the dog out in the rain, then see if I can find a plumber to get our heating to work again. Yay, Monday.

@kdfrawg He would know.

@kdfrawg Apparently they’re the pens (or their successors) that were used in French schools, so a functional pen rather than anything specialist and arty, but presumably nostalgic for a certain group of French people.

We used dip pens at the primary school I attended when I was about ten, but I have no clue what brand they were, or what kind of nib they had. All I can remember was that there were inkwells in the desks and an ink monitor whose job it was to top them up. And that I arrived after all the others had learned lovely copperplate handwriting and never quite caught up.

@kdfrawg A privileged status!

@kdfrawg The monkeys jump!

//

@kdfrawg Our fridge doesn’t have any freezer compartment at all. We didn’t have one for years till Bembo said he wanted to eat frozen food.

//

@kdfrawg Our freezer is rather small. Only two drawers, at least one of which is dedicated to dog food. Still, we have a few pouches of beef stew in there.

@kdfrawg Hardly any!
