@kdfrawg Is there a shop in the area?

I have some Ecco shoes, but I don’t think they’re what they used to be, and once I got used to walking shoes, they started to feel very flimsy.

I’m not looking for shoes to go hiking, just for general walking around town — pavements & park. And I don’t want something that looks like a trainer.

I can’t believe that companies think putting people through this sort of stuff makes things work better!

Their UK site has some walking boots, but not shoes. You’d have thought they would do them.

@kdfrawg Walking shoes and boots are a lot lighter than they used to be, but they’re not the lightest shoes around, especially if you go for leather.

Ah. Not standard magazine format. That’s useful to know. Mind you, I probably have enough shoes lined up to last several lifetimes.

I don’t think I’ve seen it. One of the pubs we eat in occasionally has a selection of hunting/shooting/fishing magazines lying around. I’ll have to check them out. Or loiter in WH Smith’s.

I was grateful for another name to try. Of course, they’ve already stopped making the women’s sizes, so I’m just grabbing a pair from a shop that still has some stock. While I was looking for someone who had them, I came across Grisport. I’d never heard of them, but they do some similar “stout walking shoes,” and have several styles, so I’ll keep them in mind for next time.

I love my Brasher boots, but their women’s shoes were never quite as nice as the men’s, and then they stopped making them at all after being taken over, so when my last pair wore out, I had to start looking elsewhere.
