I once bought some live sauerkraut on line. the jars came in thick zipped bags & the site had masses of warnings that if you were going to be bothered by leaking jars you shouldn’t order it. It really wouldn’t work for a mass market thing!

@kdfrawg This is the first time I’ve made it. I’ve only tasted it once — my lute teacher had made some & was tasting it when I turned up for my lesson.

Very. Sometimes the words are used interchangeably. Sometimes pickling means vinegar or salt. Fermented always implies that yeast or bacteria are doing some of the work. Jeremy will know all about it.

@kdfrawg Squeeeee!

I’ll tell you in a week or two, when it’s ready to taste.

One time, I was in a theatre and they made their announcement about turning phones off. I complained to my fried about how this useless phone kept turning itself on. It turned out that he had the same model, and his had picked that moment to turn itself on and phone my home number, so when I got back, I found the entire conversation was recorded on my answering machine.

Fermenting veggies. :)

That’s what I had next as well! The thing I found most irritating about the Sony was that the on/off switch was on the front, so it would turn itself on in your pocket and phone whoever was at the top of your list. I used to have to take the battery off instead of using the stupid switch.
