@hazardwarning I have a bottle of De Atramentis Document Brown. I should give that another go. I think that last time I tried, I didn’t flush the pen out properly and there was enough of the previous ink left in to mess things up. Apparently you can blend De Atramentis inks, so I can try tweaking the colour a little if it’s not exactly what I’m after.
@hazardwarning Anyway, little bits of plastic aside, I like the colour of the Black Sepia better than the Pigment Sepia, which is a bit of a shame, because the pigment one is more waterproof. The pigment one is a bit towards the reddish end rather than a true brown.
I also slipped in a bottle of J Herbin’s Caroube de Chypre, which is rather nice even if I don’t really know quite how to use it to show off all its flashy qualities. I think it might need a cola pen or something. The thinnish lines of fountain pens don’t really let it do its thing.
I haven’t tried the Forest Black yet.
It’s surprising how ink never looks like the photos even when you look at a few different sites.

@hazardwarning That must be it. It doesn’t fit particularly snugly over the nib, but the moulded packaging probably holds it in place well enough. It’s probably so that the nib is visible through the packaging or something.
// @matigo
@hazardwarning I assume it’s Japanese. That’s what I set the OCR and translation for.
// @matigo
@hazardwarning Let’s see. Here it is, together with the little plastic thingie.
@hazardwarning I don’t think so. I’ll have to look at the pictures of that. I tried an OCR and translate of the words on the packet and got: “BAE, to protect key ¬ star plastic ants use to have, is disposable _ tt is made under” which isn’t entirely clear.
@hazardwarning Ah. I have some syringes, but I’ve never actually bothered refilling cartridges.
The Carbon pens now have a strange little bit of plastic. I’m trying to work out what it is for.
@kdfrawg The Japanese bits are inscrutably oriental. The French, well, it’s French. There’s nothing a tour of England can give it!
@kdfrawg It’s not the handiest place to retrieve them from at break time.
