@kdfrawg I know I’ve done it with apps. It's one of the reasons I stopped reading tech blogs.

@joanna I think one of the unhelpful things about reading lots of blogs, whether they’re tech, or art, or photography or whatever, is the tendency to fall for the idea that having some bit of kit will make all the difference. When I go round drawing exhibitions, I see that the great artists made great art with dip pens and iron gall ink, not because of the special qualities of the pen and ink, but because that’s what they had, and they knew how to use them. Same with the Chinese calligraphers.
It’s funny, I don’t fall for it with photography, but I keep getting sucked in with art. And then I don’t like having all this stuff and would rather just have a couple of things and get on with it with what I’ve got.
Sigh.

@joanna I should give them another go. I even have some, so it wouldn’t involve more shopping.

// @hazardwarning @joanna No, she seems to be using Prismacolor. Probably much the same though.
@kdfrawg They were standing around looking very confused.
In Tashkent I bought a carved Koran stand that cost about £40. I had to pay in roubles, and I can’t remember the number, but the money took up the entire shop counter. It looked like Monopoly money. It felt faintly obscene.

@kdfrawg When we were there, the government had just introduced a tourist exchange rate of 50 roubles to the pound (the business rate was only two or three). The black market money changers on the street were really perplexed because they were offering 40 or so and we were telling them we could do better than that in the official places.

@kdfrawg There must be. I’d probably have to by a few dozen more bottles of ink if I started looking. This must have been the mixable one I saw the other day: https://www.cultpens.com/i/q/AP53644/lartisan-pastellier-classic-fountain-pen-ink-bottle-30ml I need to go to Albi now.

@or I’m sure! It had the feeling of a place that was starting to change a little bit faster than people could adjust to.
