Our washing machine only lasted 20 years. The car is coming up to that. Desktop/laptop computers already last quite a lot longer than they did in the 90s. I think they’ll get there, but they’re still a very young product.

Not quite 30 years ago, but in about 1990, I think, I used a work cell phone for a while. It was about the size and weight of two house bricks. And it couldn’t even take photos! I’m quite happy not to be using that now!

Mine’s been about 30 years. Every time the strap wears out I get a new one and change the battery. I had it serviced once.

@kdfrawg I’ve put it in my RSS feed.

Does anybody care about Camilla?

// @kdfrawg

@height8 Is that because @kdfrawg popped in?

@kdfrawg So you are!

Ours died recently but my father’s still works & is used.

// @height8

@height8 We got ours in the post. My father was just beginning to find it difficult to get about & we told him not to get a laptop but to wait & try one of these instead. Then we had to have one for ourselves so we could provide tech support. Obviously.

And surrounded by high walls. Like said cubicles, but without a roof.
