@matigo I don’t think fame is always enjoyable.
@joanna I get a bit better at handling it after a while, but it doesn’t happen often enough to really adjust.

@joanna We had a few days in a row over 90 last week. I didn’t like it.

@kdfrawg In those days there was a final salary pension scheme, so the older people who were exhausted by the working pattern didn’t want to swap for a day job that wouldn’t have the 25% shift pay bonus so would mean that after paying the higher level contributions all their lives, they wouldn’t get a higher pension. Of course, nobody gets a pension at all these days, so that wouldn’t be an issue.

@kdfrawg I haven’t done a lot of flying, but I did shift working for a while, and worked with people doing shift work for a long time. The system they used cycled 3 or 4 evenings - 4 or 3 mornings - 3 or 4 nights twice over 5 weeks. Repeat indefinitely. Some people seemed to handle it more easily than others, but there was a strong tendency for it to get harder with age. Most did ok before 30. Most struggled after 50. I was in my 20s when I did it and it was bad enough then.
