@kdfrawg I have a kind of religious instinct but no actual faith. The retreats I do are not religious. I mean there’s no God component. Funny that even the calligraphy course I picked turns out to have meditation sessions.
@hazardwarning That would mean giving some thought to the structure, I suppose. This weekend I haven’t really seen any of the course members outside the classroom, but in a residential one, you’re all eating together, and if it’s somewhere remote and picturesque, it’s not always easy to escape.

@hazardwarning Or even a course somewhere nice in anything that interests you. You should look around!

@hazardwarning We have one, but we’re such useless gardeners that it’s a bit lost at the moment.

@hazardwarning Sounds like a good day! The things I do are in some ways more a course than a retreat. I think some of the Buddhist retreats are very intense. Mine have a mix of talks and practice sessions, and the practices include postures, breathing & meditation. I think it’s very hard to do a meditate all day kind of retreat. Potentially enlightening, but not really relaxing.

@hazardwarning In my experience of listening to fellow dog walkers, children aren’t known for sustained responsibility where pets are concerned.
