@hazardwarning There are people who rhyme bus with buzz - a few of the rural Cheshire people do anyway.
I had accent confusion too. Mine really started when I went to university. I spent term time being mocked for having a northern accent and holidays being mocked for having a southern one. Most people can’t place my accent now, but those with a sharper ear can spot the northern roots. I still do somewhat shortened a and u sounds.
