I don’t really want my home server accessible to the outside world, and in any case, most apps still wouldn’t talk to it. Even if I switch from Dropbox, it’s not really feasible to be doing anything techy without supporting Google, Apple, or Microsoft. Unless you have the skills and the desire to do a lot more of the work yourself, which I don’t.
