My BMI is 22.3. Even allowing for the fact that BMI is more generous to short people, that’s solidly in the ok band, and it’s not because I’m rigorous. I do pay some attention, but probably no more than you do. My mother barely tops 100 lb these days. She only managed to stay over 110 at times in her life when she ate chips in the staff canteen every day, or something similar. Her idea of lunch out involves chips, bread and butter (if you can’t see your teeth marks in it, there isn’t enough butter), then announcing that she’s too full to manage the side salad.

When I was serving meals over Christmas, I put out the same amount of food for each of us: my 100 lb, 82 year-old mother; my father who’s 6’ plus, probably twice her weight, and for whom picking up food with a spoon is the limit of his physical movement; my 6’ 3” somewhat overweight husband; & me (except when I was wiped out by norovirus).
