I’m as susceptible as anyone to the temptation to try a new brush or paper or paint in search of something that will transform my pictures. Practice is cheaper and more reliable, but not so shiny.

@kdfrawg Eek. I accidentally replied to you with an invisible post. I sometimes do that to Mr I. I listen to what he says, but forget that I need to speak my response out loud.

I was actually thinking about drawing/painting & just using the analogy with the photographic exercise. I think it can be very helpful in many pursuits to narrow the options. It forces you to learn how to use your tools, and to be more creative.

I could do a post visible only to myself, I suppose.

Some camera people just get caught up in changing cameras and lenses in search of the perfect set up.

Sometimes I want to record what I see on paper, but I don’t know how to do it in a way that satisfies me, so I procrastinate. Pootle around on the internet & generally waste time. Or keep trying different pens and paints and brushes in search of a magic solution. What I need to do is the equivalent of Mike Johnston’s “One year, one lens” challenge. Just take a very limited toolkit and fill lots and lots of paper.

Sounds like Paris in August!

I’m thinking of people who have posted, so finding their public posts would be ok, I’d think.

Specifically, it’s along the lines of, “I’m sure I saw such and such the other day but I didn’t think to follow them at the time & now I can’t find them again.”

Is there a way to search for people yet? Other than naming them in a post and seeing if it goes bold.

It does seem likely.
