There was bright sunlight along with big black clouds — hence the lens flare as we circled the tree!

@kdfrawg That’s understandable. I don’t think a cat has allowed Bembo close enough to find out if he’s friendly or not.

@kdfrawg I hid some treats around a tree trunk for him to find today.

Poor puppy. Bembo threw his head back and did a full on howl yesterday when a police car went past very slowly with its siren blaring. I couldn’t hear it at first over the noise of the siren, but as the police car got a bit further away, I realised there was another wailing noise going on!

@kdfrawg Bembo doesn’t actually know any cats, but he has an instinctive knowledge that it’s a dog’s duty to chase cats, birds and squirrels. I think birds are his favourite, because he can make them fly away. Cats and squirrels just run up trees, which isn’t anything like as much fun.

Apart from all the work, it must be so hard to spend all that time with a puppy, knowing you have to send it away before very long.

I am in awe of the people who foster guide dog puppies. They take care of them and start basic training, then just as they’re settling down a bit, at 18 months or so, the have to let them go and start again with a new one!

She sounds just right. Having just emerged from the puppy days, I totally agree that an adult dog would work much better for you. Puppies are cute, but very hard work and would be especially difficult in a shared house.

What do they say about her?

Fingers crossed!
